¿Cuándo tomaste tu primera foto? ¿Y de qué era?
When did you take your first photograph? And what was it of?
Te diré que la primera foto la hice hace más de 30 años, en blanco y negro y fue un retrato de unos compañeros del barrio en el que vivía.
I will say that the first picture I made was over 30years ago, in black and white, and was of some friends in the neighborhood where I lived.
¿A qué atribuyes tu apreciación de las diferentes culturas?
To what would you attribute your appreciation for different cultures?
Siempre me gustaron las otras culturas, siempre me gustó saber cómo viven, se relacionan, hablan, rezan, comen, etc. los habitantes de otros lugares; sus tradiciones, sus religiones, su forma de ver el mundo, su vida comercial, sus viviendas, sus paisajes; por eso hice la carrera de Antropología Social y Cultural. Además, estoy un poco cansado de la mentalidad occidental, de que pensemos que somos lo mejor y el ejemplo a seguir, que por otra parte es todo mentira.
I've always liked other cultures. I've always liked to know how they live, interact, talk, pray, eat, etc... people in other places, their traditions, their religion, their way of seeing the world, their commercial life, their homes, their landscape. So I made the career of social and cultural anthropology. Also, I'm a little tired of the Western mind, that we think we are the best and the example to follow, which otherwise is a lie.

Me gustan más los matices de la gama de grises y creo que produce mejores texturas que el color. El color muchas veces distrae, mientras que en el blanco y negro te fijas más en los detalles, en las texturas… creo que es más mágico. Intento captar la mayor gama de grises, desde el blanco hasta el negro, por eso me encanta Ansel Adams, por ejemplo.
I like the shades of gray scale and I think it produces better texture than color. Color often distracts, while with black and white you look further into the details, the textures... I think it's magical. I try to capture the widest range of grays from white to black, so I love Ansel Adams, for example.
