That Common Thread

WHAT IS TRADITIONALLY SEEN AS WOMAN'S WORK, Erin Endicott re-approaches more contemplatively with Healing Sutras, a series of works featuring contemporary embroidery on antique garments and fabrics.

Passed on through women within the artist's own family, the garments are first stained in walnut ink before being thoughtfully stitched in scarlet thread. The process is a careful and personal one for her, looking into the concept of inherited wounds, as well as meditating "the common threads that bind countless generations of women."
