REMINISCENT OF SPANIARDS SAILING TO THE MOLUCCAS in search of spices way back when, I find myself with a similar pursuit since moving to Spain, hunting down chili peppers to satisfy my South East Asian tongue. The search leaves me unsuccessful, as I had so far only looked in the neighborhood; one in which we seem to be the only Asians around.
What I did find, after lingering way too long at the Dannijo site: exotic styles that pack on the spice, with chili-pepper beads amidst a medley of chain, crystal and teeny tiny skulls.
The earrings seduce me. But what do I tell the boyfriend at dinner? Couldn't find chili so I got earrings instead?
